Your mattress is an important purchase - it is an investment in your health as well as a financial investment.  You don't buy a new mattress everyday.  Therefore, you should be as informed as possible as to what to look for in a mattress that will give you the best value.  Your mattress should conform to your body so that the area of the low back (for a back sleeper) or the area between your underarm and your hip (if you are a side sleeper) is filled by the mattress and supports these areas.  A pressure point is an area during sleep which is subjected to enough pressure to cut off the blood supply to these points thus causing your arm to "go to sleep" or leg pain from pressure on the hip.  These pressure points (hip and shoulder) should be surrounded and cushioned by your mattress.  Another feature that may be important to you and your sleeping partner is separation of motion.  We don't advise putting a glass of wine on the mattress and jumping on the bed; but you should be able to turn over in bed or get out of bed without disturbing your partner.  These are some of the features that are important in selecting a mattress and  since we spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping, we want you to be aware of the many things that may have an effect on your undisturbed sleep.  For instance. do you sleep close to the edge of the bed?  If you are an edge sleeper, many mattresses are made today with an encasement of foam surrounding the coils and padding which provides more sleeping room at the edge without that feeling of falling out of bed.
